How people react to severe weather alerts

In February and March, I conducted a weather alert survey. Thank you to everyone who participated. The survey was to get an idea of how the general public receives and reacts to severe weather alerts, and to possibly change the way we react to these scary storms. My first question asked what platform do you typically first receive a tornado warning alert? Two in three people receive tornado warning alerts from their phone, or a weather app. 17% of participants get the alert via television and 15% rely on outdoor warning sirens to alert them of a tornado warning. When alerted to a tornado warning, nearly 75% of all participants will immediately check for more information on a television or a weather app before making their next decision.

Governor Ducey Signs Matthew s Law To Protect Pets, Families

Governor Ducey Signs “Matthew’s Law” To Protect Pets, Families Published: 04 April 2021 04 April 2021 Phoenix, Arizona - Governor Doug Ducey Thursday signed legislation that allows landlords to safely move a tenant’s pet to a shelter or release the pet to a relative if the tenant is deceased or incapacitated and can no longer care for the animal. House Bill 2507, also known as “Matthew’s Law,” is in honor of Matthew Meisner, who tragically lost his life last year after being shot. After his death, Matthew’s loved ones were unable to access his apartment to rescue his cats for days because they were considered personal property and couldn’t be touched by the landlord for a certain amount of time following Matthew’s death.

Nationally Recognized Glendale Vaccination Site At State Farm Stadium Moving Into Gila River Arena

Nationally Recognized Glendale Vaccination Site At State Farm Stadium Moving Into Gila River Arena Published: 04 April 2021 04 April 2021 Phoenix, Arizona - Arizona’s largest vaccination site at State Farm Stadium, described as a “national model” by President Biden, will transition to an indoor site at Gila River Arena in Glendale on Friday, April 23 as temperatures heat up in Arizona. Home to the Arizona Cardinals, the State Farm Stadium site has administered more than 632,000 doses since opening January 11. It has become one of the largest mass-vaccination sites in the country, providing more than 10,000 doses per day this past weekend.  The new site will keep up the momentum as COVID-19 vaccine appointments move from the outdoor, drive-thru site at State Farm Stadium to a new, air-conditioned venue just down the street at Gila River Arena. Both venues are managed by ASM Global.

Beautiful weather today, but rain returns on Wednesday

Beautiful weather today, but rain returns on Wednesday Cold front brings back rain and storms mid week By Jessica Moore | April 5, 2021 at 3:59 AM CDT - Updated April 5 at 9:34 PM Happy Monday everyone! Wonderful and warm weather for the start of the work week. We’ll have mostly sunny skies with a few clouds in the skies with highs near 80 today. Winds are southerly at around 5-10mph. This evening: temperatures are climbing out of the 70s but we still wont be in the 60s until late this evening. Overnight lows are in the low 60s. Tuesday will be another really nice day. However, there will be more clouds around at times. There could be a little more sunshine by the afternoon. I still don’t expect any rain though. Temperatures will warm back up to the lower 80s, so another warm day is on tap.
